When I was in high school one of my favorite things about the month of October was going to haunted houses. There was this one downtown created and run by the city police department. I always thought those officers probably loved participating and getting back at all the punk kids. Every year it was something different, and they really invested a ton of money into making it worth the cost of entry. My favorite was the final room...a man sitting in an electric chair awaiting his fate. The guard directed everyone to be seated while we watched what appeared to be a dummy get fried behind a set of steel bars. Then, just when you thought it was all over and the dummy was dead, he's REAL and he bursts out of the chair and bends the bars in front of him grabbing at the audience. It was so cool! I'm still searching to find a haunted house in Denver that spooks me quite like that one used, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time...Check out the link below to a list of haunted houses in the Denver area.
Since I moved to Colorado I've also started a new tradition of going to a pumpkin patch to select the very best carving pumpkin I can find. This is a great activity to do with family and friends, not too mention it's always good to support local farms. Check out the link below to a list of pumpkin patches in the Denver area.
