BBQ
Coming from Oklahoma I was accustomed to eating good barbeque. Yea I know Oklahoma isn't the epicenter of BBQ but there are some very good BBQ joints in Oklahoma. Plus Texas and Missouri are close by so I have enjoyed some excellent BBQ. Now that I am in Colorado I have yet to find a BBQ restaurant that satisfies my taste for BBQ. I am told there is a BBQ contest that is held in Frisco, Colorado where around 70 BBQ'ers from all over the region compete in a cook-off. Sounds like a good place for me to get my BBQ satisfaction so I'll be sure to attend one of the 3 days it is being held. If you happen to be in the neighborhood and want to check it out here is a link with more information,

Memorial Day Weekend Plans
Memorial Day weekend is approaching quickly, and I am really
excited! It is a long weekend, and my husband and I are getting away for some
much needed alone time! My husband helps care for two developmentally delayed
guys who live with us, and his friend also lives with us. That makes for a very
full house, and we are getting away for the weekend. We found a nice little
condo for rent in Glenwood Springs CO for a very affordable rate. We are
going to go to the hot springs pool, and hike the Hanging Lake trail. It is an
amazing spot to visit, with waterfalls, and a mineral lake at the top of the
trail. Overall, it will be nice to get a way and have a relaxing weekend.
Surprisingly, I found the great deal for renting the condo on craigslist. Take
a look sometime at vacation rentals and see if you can find any good deals.
Also, if you live in Colorado, and haven’t visited Hanging Lake yet, make sure
you do soon! You won’t be disappointed. Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

It's That Time of Year Again!
The time when you get to burn through tons of gas, driving for hours and hours. The time when you eat nothing but gas station food for days. It's time to go storm chasing. Chasing season is off to a late start this year, as this will be the first trip of the year. Fortunately, this setup is on a Saturday, Sunday. Perfect as far as not having to miss work. Unfortunately, the outlook area is from eastern Kansas to eastern South Dakota. So there will be a ton of driving. My daughter's soccer game is also having a scheduling issue with Mother Nature. The soccer game that I just, can't miss, will delay us by a few hours. That should be fine though as the storms shouldn't initiate before late afternoon.

Dancing
Hello Everyone!
I am a huge country music fan! Not only that, but I LOVE
line dancing. Most people that have not line danced before, think it is fairly
simple, but learning the basic steps can be quite difficult. After you get the
hang of a few dances, it becomes a lot easier to pick up on the different dances.
I have always considered myself to be a good dancer, especially in the
individual dances. I have also considered myself to be quite good at partner
dances as well like two-step, three-step, and swing dancing. I have even done multiple
flips in the past. Recently my husband and I signed up for partner dance
lessons together, and it actually was not my idea. He hasn’t danced a lot in
the past, and I was content to let him stay home while I went out with my
girlfriends. It was sweet that he wanted to learn for my sake, so I thought we
would give it a try. It turns out we are both AWFUL dancers. I found out I am only
as good as my leader. I found out my past leaders, poor poor leaders, had been
flinging me around the dance floor probably getting stepped on, and slapped in
the face with my elbows. I will either have to give up partner dancing all
together or learn how to be not only a better follower, but also a better
dancer. After these last few weeks, I might just have to stick to line dancing
by myself.

My First Try at a Tri
Hi All,
We are officially four months into the new year and I have been lucky to accomplish many of my resolutions. I joined a book club and have read more books (for fun, not school!) in the last few months than ever in my life. And I have also been challenging myself in new ways physically. I just finished up a month and a half at a boxing club and have officially signed up for my first triathlon! Now, I know what you're thinking..that's crazy. But, I like baby steps. So, I signed up with a friend and we are doing the race as a relay. I will be doing the swimming portion. I have always been a strong swimmer so a half-mile swim will be easy for me. And of course it's for a great cause and just another thing to cross off the resolution list!

Happy Thursday!
Happy Thursday Everyone!
It seems to have been one of those weeks, so I started my weekend a little early last night, and went out with some friends for a couple of drinks. Nothing to crazy, but it was nice to get out and laugh a little. I do believe that laughter is the best medicine. So...if you are feeling a little stressed out, busy, or tired, go out with some friends, sit down have a few drinks, grab a snack and enjoy a good light hearted chat. It is better than stewing over your problems, or complaining about things. Hope ya'll have a great rest of the week! It's finally getting nice here, so I know I will!

Fishing
Spring time is the beginning of warmer weather (or at least it is supposed to be) which marks the beginning of some very good fishing. I usually plan a few out of state fishing trips around end of April and early May but due to colder weather I haven't been able to get out. That will change in a few weeks so I have planned a few trips to Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma. Typically I go to Kansas for the White Bass fishing as there are great numbers of White Bass there. I go to Nebraska for the larger fish such as the Wipers and Catfish. They are abundant and huge in Nebraska waters. I go to Oklahoma for all around fishing and just to go back to my home state. Since I do a lot of fishing I always have a fishing scale handy to weigh my catch. The scale I use is the Jennings Ultrasport V2-50 and it has worked great. Here is a link to that scale just in case you are in the market for a solid fishing scale,

Farm animals don't belong in the house!
As you tell from my previous blogs, I tend to be a bit impulsive. Recently I
decided to get a baby goat. I have always thought goats were really cute, and
was so excited when I found out a baby was available. The only problem is we
don't own a farm. We live in the suburbs. I did grow up in the country, but we
never owned goats growing up, and I never imagined they would be this much
trouble. We had read ahead of time that the goat needs a companion but we
figured the Dog could be his companion. The dog is not interested in being the goat’s
companion, and if we leave the goat alone he starts bleating really loudly.
That means that the goat is in the house most of time. We have plans to put the
goat outside as soon as the weather gets better and maybe get him a companion
goat, but in the meantime, my husband and I have gotten no sleep, we clean up
goat droppings constantly, and we run around trying to stop the goat from
eating everything from paint to toilet paper. To make matters worse, the goat
has recently discovered his ability to jump over nearly all the blockades we
have set up, and how to head butt. After nearly a week of this, we have decided
the goat must go outside or to a farm. Goats do not belong in the house.
Although I've gotten quite attached to the little guy, I'm more attached to my
sleep, and he won't last much longer at this rate. Hope the weather gets better
and we find a little "friend" for Billy soon because I can't take it anymore! :) Have a great day!

Mind Your Beeswax
I love to make meals and snacks at home instead of buying pre-made convenience foods from the store. Not only is it healthier and often cheaper, but there's a lot less waste, too. For a while now I've wanted to make granola and protein bars, but haven't because, to make them a portable snack, I would have to put each one in a plastic bag or wrap it in foil, or plastic wrap...which is wasteful. Well, I think I made have found the ultimate solution! Bee's Wrap! It's amazing! It's cloth and beeswax that you can wash and reuse. How cool is that? I'm totally going to get some and try out the new quinoa protein bar recipe I found over the weekend.
Happy Wednesday!
